I had the opportunity to enter into a bake-off where everything had to come from a recipe from before 1900. I chose to make a Blueberry Cake (1868) with a Lemon Curd (1867) filling covered in Whipped Cream (1834). This beauty won first place for “Most Aesthetically Pleasing” and second for “Most Delicious”!
As you can see, these “recipes” are really more of a list of ingredients. It was so much fun applying what I know about baking to these! 10/10 would recommend trying to make an old time-y dessert!
